Michelle Liu ・ Associate
Dr. Liu’s practice is primarily directed to preparing and prosecuting patent applications for U.S and foreign clients in a wide range of technology areas including chemistry, materials science, semiconductor devices and processing, optical devices, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and nanotechnology. She also has experience conducting patent validity and freedom to operate analyses, patent landscape and whitespace analyses, and intellectual property due diligence analyses in these areas.
Prior to practicing law, Dr. Liu worked as a researcher in both academic and industrial labs responsible for developing cutting-edge functional materials for organic light-emitting diodes and photovoltaics. Dr. Liu has published papers in numerous scientific journals and is an inventor of several patent and patent applications.
Dr. Liu holds a B.S. in Polymer Chemistry from Sichuan University (China), a M.S. in Organic Chemistry from Northeastern University, a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from University of Washington, and a J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law. Dr. Liu is admitted to the Washington State Bar and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
