Michael P. McComas • Associate

Profile

Mr. McComas is a registered patent attorney in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. McComas’s practice is primarily directed to preparing and prosecuting patent applications for U.S. and non-U.S. clients in the electrical and mechanical arts.

Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. McComas was a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for nearly two years in the graphical user interface Art Unit, and a patent search consultant for nearly one year in the electrical and business method arts.

Before attending law school, Mr. McComas was an electrical engineer for ten years with responsibilities in the areas of software and hardware development, manufacturing, support, and sales of test equipment for the semiconductor industry. Prior to his engineering career, Mr. McComas worked in the financial industry as a registered representative for ten years.

Mr. McComas holds a Juris Doctor from The University of Richmond and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University. Mr. McComas is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia and before the U.S. Patent Office. Mr. McComas is a member of the Greater Richmond Intellectual Property Law Association (GRIPLA).
