Mr. Beale’s practice is primarily directed at preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the electrical, chemical, and mechanical arts, with a heavy emphasis on semiconductor structures and manufacturing processes.
Mr. Beale holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Reed College, has extensive formal education in physics, and holds a Juris Doctor degree from the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College. He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Practice Highlights & Technologies
Mr. Beale has practiced patent law for over twenty years, during which time he has been employed in-house on patent teams of major semiconductor corporations and has served as outside patent counsel in private practice for some of the world’s largest multinational technology companies. In those roles, he has performed patent portfolio management, prepared and prosecuted patent applications, prepared opinions concerning patent validity and noninfringement, and participated in high-stakes patent licensing negotiations with industry competitors and non-practicing entities (NPEs). Mr. Beale has also delivered presentations to overseas clients on matters of U.S. patent law, and collaborated with them in developing effective and efficient procedures for invention harvesting and patenting.
